The Postgraduate Certificate in Medical Education (PGCME) was launched by the

PGIM in 2008 with the intention of empowering the health professionals with the basic

expertise in knowledge, skills and attitudes required of a medical teacher.


The programme is designed and developed to cater individuals involved in delivering

undergraduate/postgraduate medical education and other fields of healthcare delivery.

It aims to equip participants with the expertise in designing, delivering and evaluating

educational programmes for health professionals.

The programme is designed and developed to cater individuals involved in delivering undergraduate/postgraduate medical education and other fields of healthcare delivery. It aims to equip participants with the expertise in designing, delivering and evaluating educational programmes for health professionals.

The PGCert (MedEd) is placed at Level 7 of the Sri Lanka Qualifications Framework (SLQF). Therefore, it will provide you with an overview of key issues in medical education and will enhance your understanding of choice of curricula and teaching/learning and assessment methods relevant to the learning environment of your institution. The extended PGCert (MedEd) will provide you with an overview of the university system in Sri Lanka, and enhance your capacity to function within the university system. You should also refer to the PGCME prospectus for further details regarding the course.

The online learning program is intended to supplement the classroom teaching learning activities. You are expected to submit all assignments pertaining to the course through Moodle (the online learning management system).
